When I go to bed every night, I plug my phone into the charger on my nightstand and turn off the notifications. This morning when I got up, I unplugged my phone to take it downstairs. I saw a text from my sister. She lives in southern California and so there is a three hour time difference. Anyway, sometime last night she texted me to ask if I saw the photo from the Temecula Quilt Co. on Instagram? My quilt was featured.
Up until that point I wasn't on Instagram. I was thinking about it, but remember how I just wrote a post about how the screen time was getting in the way of quilt time? I figured Blogger, Facebook, and Flickr were plenty. But that text from my sister drove me over the edge. Of course I wanted to see my quilt.
So I joined. I struggled to figure out how it worked for a bit, and how to search and I finally found the Temecula Quilt Co and followed it. There was the picture! How thrilling. Here it is.
Do you recognize my Sunbonnet Sue Plays with Yoyos?
Next I spent a lot of time looking for blog friends that I know were on Instagram. I've added a few. I would like to add any of your who are on it too, if you let me know your "name." I am patrioticquilter. I would add a link, but I haven't figured that much out yet.
Once I finished with Instagram, I looked at my Facebook. As I scrolled down through my feed, there was the same picture from the Temecula Quilt Co! So I joined Instagram for no real reason, but since I am there, I'm staying. I'll be trying it out to see how I like it.
Meanwhile, if you are in Southern California, today is the day for the blue and white quilt show at the Temecula Quilt Co. I wish I could be there, but my sister is going. At least I have a picture with my quilt in it. If she gets more photos, I will try to share them tomorrow. If any of you go, I hope you post some pictures, too, or put them on instagram.
Have a great day!
JoAnne
How very exciting JoAnne! Congrats!! I don't do Instagram or Twitter or anything other than reading blogs (thinking of starting my own) and Facebook ... I am on the computer WAAAYYY too much anyway ... plus I've started taking a class on Electric Quilt .... Linda
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is so cute! I joined Instagram to follow the exploits of my nephew in Paris but have added a few quilters to the list. I'll add you, just in case. But I agree with you, all this social media cuts into my quilting time.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! So exciting! I am still struggling to embrace instagram. I don't do much on flickr either.. but I will look for you on IG. I think (that's how not IG-savvy I am-ha) my user name is rnkelli. I think.. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's cool! I just followed you on Instagram.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on having your quilt featured like that... how exciting! I'm resisting any more "social media" at this point... it's beginning to be overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteThe school system has it's own Facebook-type thing and I'm supposed to be on four sites there plus email... *argh*
I'd rather be quilting...
Wow! Congratulations and I love your quilt. I'll look for you on Instagram :)
