The Winner

Hi Everyone,

It was so much fun hearing the dream quilts that everyone wanted to make! We sure do know how to dream, don't we?

I did the Random Number Generator thing and this was the number chosen:

And the lucky number 42 was Sarah who said:  I would love to make a spinning star quilt but I don't know if I have the skills to do so yet. I am a new quilter without many books or supplies, and would love to win this giveaway. Thanks for the chance.

Sarah, I will be emailing you to get your address.

This is going to be a busy week.  My husband is taking a retirement class for the military.  It is mandatory for him and suggested for me.  I am giving 3 days as I am busy on Thursday and Friday is Bonnie Hunter!!!!!  I also have a bit of an attitude issue about having to go to a class to "learn how to be a civilian?"  I bet most of you know how to do it and never had a class!

I have a new project on my cutting table too.  It isn't a quilt!!!  My ice skating niece needs a skating costume.  Yikes!  It will be interesting! Have any of you ever put a zipper into a lycra garment?  I'd love any tips that you can offer.

Have a great day!
JoAnne

  1. Congrats to Sarah! And I remember taking those classes with my hubby......I think I was more eager to do it, because I knew my hubby wouldn't remember half of the stuff they shared. My main interest was the financial section, of course, with the survivor benefits and such. (We opted out of that and got insurance instead.....better deal at the time.....but I don't know what they have now.) It was quite surprising that we were the only couple in the class, and that when asked how long we'd been preparing for retirement, everyone was shocked that we said about 8 years. Everyone else was saying, "Oh, about 6 months!" lol

  2. Too funny that the military has to "prepare" you for non-military life. Although I do have some friends who are former military, who think the world runs as the military does. Ugh! I am so looking forward to seeing you on Friday in Bonnie Hunter's class.

  3. JoAnne,
If you are anything like me, you don't need a "retirement class". I fell into it quite nicely thank you very much :) It will be interesting though to see what they have planned for so many days!

Have fun at your Bonnie class. I've never been to one but I've heard she's fun. Hope to see your project from the class.

  6. You will love, love, love your Bonnie Hunter class ... she's an amazing energy to be around. What quilt are you making in her class? She's coming to our guild in 2016 (!!) ... that was the first available date she had open in this area (Northern Michigan). She'll be teaching in three areas near me and I am trying to take classes at all three of her sessions. You will LOVE it, JoAnne!

  7. I was very happy to go to the retirement and glad I did. So many changes from active to retiree when it comes to health care and benefits...especially good to learn about spouses benefits should something happen to hubby after his retirement and your entitlements! I'm just sayin.....

  8. Congratulations to Sarah! I have the book and all the Schnibbles patterns you offered( I forgot to tell you not to enter my name...I just thought I would throw my dreams out there with everyone else) i'm sure Sarah will be thrilled with her big win!
Wish I was lucky enough to be in on the BH workshop. I love her quilts!
Wishing you all the best with the retirement thing...I would think the retirement itself will take more getting used to than "civilian" life. ;)
