Next Year

Hi Everyone,

I've been considering next year.  Do you know how some people have a themed year in their quilts?  Lately, there has been a surge in tackling UFOs.  Some other people concentrate on a special quilt or technique.  I really haven't gotten involved in designating a theme for a year yet, but in 2013 I just may.  I realized that while I don't have many UFOs, I do have many USOs--you know, unstarted objects.  In many cases I may have bought a pattern and even fabric, but never began the project.  I think in the next few weeks, I'm going to rummage through things and see just what I have that I can do.  Why should I be buying more and more things when I have plenty to make?

How about you?  Do you ever have a theme?  What are your 2013 quilt plans?

Have a great day!
JoAnne

  1. I hadn't thought of having a theme for the year, but you are now making me think. I have a long list of quilts I really want to make, but just never got to because something else comes up that really must get done. I think I might focus on quilting for fun in 2013! How's that for a theme! :-)

  2. 2013 for me, will be a Fig Tree year, patterns, fabrics and perhaps swap.

  3. I've not had a theme for a calendar year but do have long-standing projects such as The Grandbaby Quilt Project that has evolved into Everyone in the Family Gets a Quilt of Their Own! With my brother's 60th b'day quilt (due Dec 29th), I am down to one quilt for my youngest nephew and the three siblings-in-law. So I guess that's my theme for 2013....

  4. I was just saying the other day, that I wanted to get out all of my ufo's and figure which ones were still something I wanted to spend time on. I probably have over 20 (maybe over 30!) of them, and I'm sure half of them I've totally lost interest in them now. They're really hanging over my head heavy now, so it's time! I guess 2013 will be my ufo year! :O)

  6. Like Regan this coming year (2013 and beyond!!) is a UFO year for me. It is SO bad that I have actually made an Excel spreadsheet so that I can keep track of them. Lists the project/pattern, fabrics for it, notes, etc. I recently had a major move and so much stuff was unearthed ... everytime I open another moving box there are more UFOs ... thus the spreadsheet. No new projects for this girl this year .......

  7. I have noticed the themes too. With a couple of quilt tops sitting around, it ought to be hand quilting for me. Otherwise, maybe I will face my fears - working with solids!
