If you watch any television at all, you may have seen this commercial. Please realize that I am in no way supporting this product, I just want to
Yes. It is the owl commercial with the obnoxious "who?" coming from the male while his female companion is trying to talk to him. For some reason, this appeals to my husband and he began emulating it. If I tell him something about my friends or something I read on one of your blogs, I am getting these annoying "who?" inserts into my conversation. Grrr..
Maybe the first time is was a little bit funny, but it is going on and on.
And then I had my revenge. My husband (who is by no means at all a "sports watcher,") made a random comment on a certain player who was changed to a different team. I instantly saw my opportunity and started with the "who?" My friends, the look on his face was priceless!
I know that the companies do these commercials so that they are "talked about" and remembered (if not for the shear stupidity) but I find that I'm not exactly sure of which company the commercial is for. I'm glad of that. I'm also glad that for now, my company hasn't jumped on that bandwagon. I'm afraid it might make me finally change mine.
Have a great day!
JoAnne
Gotta be honest..the first time I saw that commercial I laughed out loud. I never became a running joke, though, and I can see how that would lost it's charm quickly.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand about not knowing what a commercial is for. Lately, especially with technology commercials, I don't always know what it is they are trying to sell me. Thanks goodness for DVR!
Who, Who? Actually I like that one, maybe because we haven't see it a hundred times. Don't mind the gecko, he rather cute, but Flo has to go. Excuse the pun. Speaking of commercials, how about A T & T's plastic covered couch? If I see that one more time I think I will pull my contract from A T & T.
ReplyDeleteMy television hasn't been turned on in over a month, so I've missed a lot of commercials, thankfully. I did see the owl one online the other day and can see how it could be annoying.
ReplyDeleteOK, JoAnne, I'm seeing it here first (perhaps it isn't available here in Canada or I'm not watching enough TV). I can see how it could inspire rage if adopted by a spouse LOL. But didn't it feel great to "get him back"?
ReplyDeleteLOL...it is annoying! My first thought with that commercial, is that it was once again portraying the man/husband as an oblivious idiot that doesn't listen or know anything. Modern TV shows and commercials for the last 10 years or so have turned husbands/dads into incompetent and unnecessary part of the family. It's really a shame! okay...off my soapbox. :P
ReplyDeleteWe never watch live TV so I've never seen this commercial before - rather annoying!
ReplyDeleteoh golly, how these commercials can infiltrate our lives!! Glad you got your own back!! (I liked the camel one though!)
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!! The camel is popular at my house, but I'm not a big fan. My personal favorite is the GEICO woodchuck commercial a few years back.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't quite done but it wouldn't let me type anymore, so here's the rest........the boys love the owl commercial because we like owls here. I'll have to tell them your story LOL!
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOSH, that is one of my all-time favoritist commercials. I LOVE the look on the girl owl's face after his third or fourth "WHOO". SO FUNNY!! The camel is pretty funny but the owls are the BEST!! LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteI like the owls but only because she gets annoyed with HIM. LOL
ReplyDeleteMust admit that I'm crazy about the camel ... 'what day is it'? LOL
I can see how that would get annoying if my husband picked it up. We'd have to have a talk about it pretty quick. Must have been nice to demonstrate how annoying it is. Hopefully you can put it to rest now for good!
ReplyDeleteI thought I had the only spouse that thinks it's funny to emulate commercials. Mr. Moosebay spent weeks torturing me with "I'm Chef Boyardee". Whatever.
