Not Much To Report

Hi Everyone,

Wow!  Thanks for all of the feedback about my announcement!  As you could probably tell, I'm a bit excited about it.

Want to see what I've gotten accomplished this week?

I got these design boards done.  That's it!  I'm beginning to get a little panicked again!  There isn't so much as a sprig of holly out here yet, either.  In fact, don't tell anyone, but I still have pumpkins out on the steps!  Pumpkins are completely passé right now.

The boards got done because I took them to my bee yesterday.  I had them cut, and covered with batting, but still needed to add the "binding" with the glue gun.  As I was getting ready to go, I realized I only had 2 glue sticks.  There happens to be a craft store across the street from my neighborhood, so I decided to pick some up on the way to bee.  I did a quick check online for a coupon, and hit pay dirt!  There was one for 55% off one item!  I used it to splurge for a new glue gun.  I had a little one that requires the user to push the glue stick to dispense.  Today I got one that not only has a trigger, but is cordless as well!  If only they would come up with one that would keep those glue stringy-things from getting everywhere.

I did get a pattern cut out for one of my last two Christmas projects.  While doing so, I was listening to an audiobook.  It is called "The Art of Mending" by Elizabeth Berg.  I like the author--I've read or listened to a few of her books.  I didn't know it looking at the description, but the main character is an art quilter.  I haven't heard enough to judge the whole book, but I'm liking it so far.  Anyway, the author must know something about quilters because the main character went to a fabric shop and bought a piece of fabric for a border.  Then she goes to the car and takes the fabric out of the bag and puts it in her lap so she can sneak peeks of it on the way home!!  Here I thought I was the only one who did things like that.  Do any of you do that?  Or do you sneak your hand in the bag for a feel?  I'd love to hear if you share this proclivity!

Have a great day!
JoAnne

  2. What are you going to do with all those design boards? I think my glue gun is probably 20 years old or more. They were the bomb in the 80'-90's, weren't they? I still pull mine out a couple times a year. LOL

  3. I still have one of those glue guns and every time I use it, it drives me crazy, but when I am in a craft store it never crosses my mind to buy a new one! Maybe Santa will put one in my stocking!
Michelle's comment got me curious, so I just counted my design boards--I have 39 of them (I inherited 15 from DH's aunt when she died a year ago), and sometimes they are almost all full. I use them all the time. I don't bind mine--just lazy, I guess. : )

  5. I was just telling hubby yesterday that I was needing to use a glue gun for a project, and I didn't have a clue where mine might be. I think the last time I used it was in the 80's, on a wreath project! I like the idea of the new one being cordless! That would be awesome! I think I need to run out and get one now! Thanks! And yeah.....I've been known to fondle the fabric in the bag next to me when driving! What is the deal with that? We must crazy or something! LOL

  6. Hhu-hhmm, yes I have been known to display furtive behaviour when it comes to fabric!! Great luck with the gluegun; I've been wanting to make some of those boards too but haven't got to it yet.
