A Giveaway!

Hi Everyone,

Yes, I'm still here!  Life has been so busy lately but hopefully it is calm for a while.  At my last post, I promised a giveaway, and I'm here to deliver!  Late last year, I wanted to make a project from this book:

I wasn't sure that I had it so I did a quick scan of my quilt book shelf and didn't see it, so I ordered it.  Two days before it arrived I found the copy that I already had and missed!  So, I'm giving this away.

Also I have a bunch of Schnibbles patterns.  Most of these I have made--the ones I haven't are duplicates as they also appear in Carrie's books.

I'm doing some clearing out, so it could be that some other things make it into the box!  If you would like to win, please enter by leaving a comment by midnight Friday/Saturday on Eastern Time.  I will ship it internationally!  If you are a "no reply" commenter, please include your email address!

As to the subject of the comments, I would love to know the one "dream project" that you would love to make.  Maybe you are already working on it or maybe it is really a dream?

For me, it is probably purely dreaming, but I would love to make one of these:

An exquisite, highly detailed, Baltimore Album quilt.  And since I'm dreaming?  I would design all the blocks myself!  How about you?

Have a great day!
JoAnne

  1. An intricate applique quilt is also on my list of someday quilts. Right now I think a scnibbles pattern is my speed.

  2. I admire anyone who is patient enough to take on a beautiful applique project like your dream. I had a photo of a Carrie Nelson quilt that I have had on my list before I even knew her designs. I now have the fabrics and some even cut in preparation and hope to clear the decks soon to piece it. I have so little confidence in my own FMQ and need lots of practice before I attempt it.

  3. Love Carrie Nelson and Kim Diehl! Winning any of these items would be great! Hope to see that applique quilt of yours one day-I always admire intricate applique, but don't have the patience to do it. Thanks for doing this giveaway. Have a great day!!

  4. I am starting to get serious about my someday quilt, a double wedding ring! I would also like to do a New York Beauty someday.

  5. Love your 'dream' quilt! I would love to make my dream quilt before the old eyes and hands can't manage it - a handquilted whole cloth.

  6. Ohhh, love Kim Deil and her patterns and yes, also love doing those little schnibbles....great giveaways!!!
My dream quilt would be a log cabin but with a different twist, more of gentle curves and am doing some research on those to see where to start. In all this time of my sewing have not made a log cabin so maybe this is the year.
    Thanks

  7. I have all of Kim Diehl's books (even pre-ordered her newest one due out end of April). Had the pleasure of taking a two day class with her last year; it was wonderful!! I do, however, so love the Schnibble patterns because at this point in my life they are perfect ... small, doable and quick! Hope to win those!! My "dream" quilt is a New York Beauty ... one I never, ever, ever would have thought I'd be interested in but they intrigue me ... definitely an heirloom project and perhaps tackled after all my UFOs are completed and my sewing room is organized ... hopefully you are NOT holding your breath! LOL Linda

  8. I am a big fan of Kim Diehl's and have pre-ordered her new book coming out in a couple weeks (cannot wait)!! I don't believe that I have this particular book of hers and would love to have it.

I am not sure if I have a "dream " quilt.......I guess I have never really thought about it. To me having more time to quilt would be my dream!!!!!

  9. I have the Kim Diehl book but would love a chance to win a Carrie pattern. The quilt I hope to make one day is the Double Wedding Ring.

  14. I have most of the Schnibbles but not the book, would love to have it!
My 'dream' quilt is a Farmer's Wife Quilt (yeah, I'm late to the party) and I already made about 20 blocks. Perhaps I'll finish it this year? Or even better in autumn and give it to my parents as gift to their 35th anniversary? Let's see:-)

  17. I'm torn, I have so many dream projects, that is, ones I want to make but feel too imtimated to start. They include a double wedding ring and a medallion quilt with an intricate applique center. But I love those small Schnibbles quilts too.

  18. What a great giveaway! I would love to make any of those Schnibbles, or something from that great Kim Diehl book. I dream of finishing some of the appliqués that I have started! It seems that I never have enough time for...OR is it...I just have too many projects? LOL! Thank you for the great give away. I really enjoy reading your blog!

  19. I have a Pinterest page full of quilts I would love to make. I always admire your Schnibbles each month too. I have a load of fabrics that would suit the Kim Diehl projects too - so many quilts - so little time!

  20. One day I hope to make a beautiful hand appliqued quilt. Too often I opt for speed and do machine applique.

  21. My dream was a Dear Jane and I have the book, but now I don't know that I will ever make the whole thing--maybe a small version with some of the blocks.
My doable dream quilt is the DWR I started several years ago and haven't had the courage to finish.

  22. My dream is to get through the list of quilts I want to make. So many quilts, so little time! We have 5 sons and I'm trying to make them quilts for each major milestone. I just started this a couple of years ago but I did make them each one when they were born. Now, it is high school and college graduations, when they make Eagle Scout, wedding, etc. I do want to make a double wedding ring quilt and a Farmer's Wife quilt at some point though. I love your blog---you do such beautiful work! Thanks for the giveaway!

  23. My dream is to make the Farmer's Wife quilt - all of the blocks! I've got the book... I've got the fabric, now I just need the dedication! I'd love to win your giveaway! I admire Kim Diehl but have never made any of her projects!

  24. My dream project is a Dear Jane quilt, and no I haven't started it, but I did purchase the Dear Jane software from EQ. Thanks for the chance to win.

  25. Wow, my dream quilt....there are so many but I think New York Beauty is at the top of my list! I am intimidated by color choices. I like all Kim Diehl books and I don't have this one. None of the LQS here have Schnibbles patterns. Thank you for your giveaway!!

  32. I, too, would love to make an album quilt, but I don't know if my attention span is long enough. A more realistic goal, though still off in the future, is a Double Wedding Ring quilt. Oh how I love those. I really enjoy reading your blog, Joanne. Thanks so much for writing it.

  34. One day I would love to make s Rose of Sharon in royal, jewel toned sapphire, emerald, amethyst and ruby. I have Sharon Pederson's book. In fact it was the first quilting book I ever purchased. I knew the quilt was way beyond my ability but I am getting better slowly. Maybe one day!

Thanks for such a generous giveaway, if I were to win I guess I'd just have to push my dream quilts a little farther back in line in order to make a few of the Schnibble's.

  39. My dream quilt is the one in my profile picture! It's a gorgeous antique red & green quilt with a double Irish chain dividing the blocks of appliqued tulips. It has a zig zag inner border and more applique around that! I've loved this quilt from the second I saw it on Ebay, several years ago. It's long gone to a new home somewhere, so the pic is all I have to go by. But it will be my 'masterpiece' quilt one day! :o)

  40. Hi JoAnne, one of my dream quilts is an English paper pieced hexagon quilt. I'm working on that now - it will be entirely hand pieced and the plan will be to hand quilt it. I'll be working on this project a lot in the next two months as I recuperate from knee surgery. I also want to design an Adirondack themed Baltimore Garden-style appliqué quilt. I have many of the blocks "designed" in my mind but have yet to draw them out. I love those Schnibbles patterns, but also love Kim Diehl quilts and would welcome any of those prizes!

  41. I would love to make a spinning star quilt but I don't know if I have the skills to do so yet. I am a new quilter without many books or supplies, and would love to win this giveaway. Thanks for the chance.

  42. My dream project is just that--a project, rather than a specific quilt. I'd like to make a quilt for each of my siblings. I've been thinking about it for 9 years, and had thought I should have them for their 50th birthdays. Three of the four have already turned 50, and I've only got one quilt started! So, I guess it is a dream.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh,what fun things to give away! Kim Diehl has such interesting patterns and the applique is always such an addition to the pattern. I have one Miss Rosie book but none of her individual patterns. Thanks for thinking of us! I am dreaming of someday doing a wedding ring quilt. There seem to be lots of ways to make it easier but I really want to have all the individual pieces in the rings not one piece or even paper pieced. I hope I can collect enough fabric to give it variety. Thanks again- K-

  53. My dream project is a feathered star quilt - but after considering it for several years the thought of it still scares me to death! Silly, huh? Especially since I've learned that if I just start with one small step, a large project isn't nearly as intimidating! I love the Kim Diehl book - already own it - but if the Snibbles patterns are a separate giveaway I'd love to win them!

  54. Jo Anne, What a wonderful giveaway! I love the prim look from Kim Diehl. Goes well in my log cabin. And those Schnibbles !! I "watch" the parade each month and drool ... so cute and fairly quick. My Dream Quilt - I have been working on English Paper Piecing and am gathering fabric for a Lucy Boston- Patchwork of the Crosses. Lots of ideas on Pinterest with absolutely gorgeous fussy cutting. Each block is a masterpiece. I will hand piece and quilt. My son is in the Army, also, and will be deploying again at the end of 2014. I plan to work on my Lucy Boston while he is gone - to keep my hands busy. Donna donnanb@gmail.com

  58. Well, since I am a new-to-quilting sewer, my "dream" quilt would be one for my bed! :) I drool each month over the Schnibbles, and would love to try one of them. Eventually I would like to make a double wedding ring, but for now I am sticking with the easier patterns.

  61. Great post! I have a few dream quilts. A traditional Crazy quilt with silks, wools and velvets. All hand embroidered.(hey a girl can dream) a New York beauty...not to keep, but just to see if I can make a real stunner, and a Laundry Basket Quilt called On Angel Wings. I love that one and it is a more attainable dream these days than the others. As far as your dream quilt, it really would not surprise me to see you do it...if anyone can do it, you can!

    ReplyDelete
  62. I would love to stitch a Baltimore Album, also, but don't think I have the patience or stamina to complete one. I know my limits! I have Kim's book but not all of Carrie's patterns. Thanks for a great giveaway. These ladies are two of my favorite designers.

  65. Hmm, I have a TON of projects I'd like to make someday so I guess they're all 'dream projects' as that's probably as far as they'll ever get. It WOULD be nice to finish my DJ (it's even as far as basted) and put the R/W/B DJ together with the medallion center (which I've not found yet). Thanks for the giveaway!!
