Hi Everyone,

My big, exciting news is that my Dresden Doilies quilt arrived back home from the quilter yesterday around 11.  I spent the day adding the sleeve, label, and binding.  I finished hand stitching the binding last night and I'm completely happy.  I can't show it to you yet, though, because we are having gloomy, rainy weather and the light isn't great in my house if there isn't sun. 

I do have some pictures to show, though. 

This is really fun.  A friend still in Hawaii provided it.  She was at a Lego display at the Bishop Museum in Honolulu.  Yes, this spectacular Hawaiian quilt is made of Legos!

 

 

Last week I found myself starting a project almost out of thin air.  I suddenly got an itch to make something WWII inspired.  



 

 

I have this book which is more coffee table/history than projects so I looked through it for inspiration.  I found some and began the project.  It involved appliqueing stars, though.

 

Long, sharp points are not the easiest to applique, but practice is always good!  I needed to do 13.  I got them finished this week and stitched the pieces together for this:

 

 

The "V" (for Victory) was a common theme in quilts made right at the conclusion of WWII.  My inspiration block looked to be 12" or so, but I enlarged it.  This is 24."  I'm not sure yet if I'm finished with it.  I'm contemplating some additions, but I got distracted with the Dresden quilt yesterday.

 

Distraction seems to be the primary theme right now.  I'm afraid I need to write down the projects I need to focus on so I can get things done.  Stay tuned, you may see the first ever "goals" post on this blog!
